How OSSD credits work: a quick guide for families
The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) requires students to earn 30 credits, including compulsory and elective courses, along with the literacy requirement and community involvement hours. Each full course is worth one credit.
Planning early helps students stay on track and keep university and college options open. Our team can help map out the right courses for each student.
University Planning
Five tips for choosing a university program
Start with interests and strengths, not just rankings. Check prerequisite courses early, since many programs require specific Grade 11 and 12 courses. Compare program structure, co-op options, and costs, and keep an eye on application deadlines.
Atlas Academy's university program selection support helps students and families work through each of these steps.
Study Skills
Building strong study habits in high school
Consistent routines matter more than long cram sessions. Set a regular study time, break big tasks into smaller steps, review notes within 24 hours, and ask for help early. Tutoring can give students a personalized plan that fits their learning style and pace.
